What is a PMO?

A project management office (or PMO), according to the Project Management Institute, is a group or department within a business, government agency, or enterprise that defines and maintains standards for project management within the organization. The PMO strives to standardize and introduce economies of scale in the execution of projects. The PMO is the source of documentation, guidance, and metrics on the practice of project management and execution. PMOs may take on different roles, based on the needs of the organization.

TSI helps our clients to create a Project Management Office or an Enterprise PMO (ePMO). These may be somewhat fundamental, focusing primarily on the management of projects. Or they can be more advanced and operate as an internal consulting group.

Also, TSI may help our clients to create a PMO from scratch or by enhancing one that currently is in place.  In recent years, PMOs have been dismantled and now organizations are seeking to create basic or robust, in some cases, with consulting like capabilities.
